The Silent pain of Indian students

3 months into clearing inter exams , I entered my B-tech college life excitedly. just like me there were lakhs of students joining b-tech in India . Every 3 out of 5 students join engineering thinking they will able to create many innovations but will face the reality in the second year itself. Irrespective of place college study and knowledge every b-tech student dreams of two things one is backlog less b-tech and another one a startup. Who knows these two are gonna cherish and students are brainwashed to forget these terms in the coming years.first week is all about introductions and meet-ups ,gang formations.

Right from the second week of my college there was a discussion about placements seminars held on that. Primarily the ultimate goal of the student told by our teachers was not skill development, industry level knowledge whatsoever It was getting the highest package possible!!! I was waiting for at least a person who would talk about developing skills , gaining knowledge , entrepreneurship and all , but none came. There was this entrepreneurs club in my college ( just for the sake of name ) whose sole purpose is to decorate the table of the clubs in our college. Another instance was we have to maintain running notes given by faculty whose lessons were so bad compared to a youtube teacher , And at the point of examination everybody should study those ten questions given in the assignment and write the exam. The orthodox BATTI method. Students here are given value according to their batty capacity(mostly) and the dropouts given value according to their LPA. College says just create LinkedIn profile , do some leet codes problems ( f*ck. your core branches) what in your 3rd year then life is settled you have achieved the goal of being a slave to a company working 9 to 5 a week , wasting savings on every weekend and staring at the boss for incentives and bonuses.

This is what engineering is?

In schools we were taught about ideas of success this is what success mean? Is this what we get for nearly 20 years of schooling and education?

Motivation classes here were a big joke ..The speaker describes the story of Sudha murthy Narayan murthy who found Infosys and he is like “ study hard work hard like them have dedication and thrive for success. Nobody will stop you from getting placement in Infosys”.

I am like “wait what? placement”

The reputation of their college is all they care . This system is the reason students are being brainwashed and their dreams crushed.

From dreaming to become an entrepreneur, build buildings, build cars etc to just settle for what we get. Sit in-front a computer for the rest of their lives and do not even dare to see towards their dreams

In the end we act as brides married to the MNCs to be their slaves forever where the dowry is tag of 100% placement guarantee to the college. This is a never ending tragic tale of the students where all the political leaders, parents are spectators watching us just get into a congested train where home is just an illusion. No wonder why India is still a developing country. Often less sung issue yet changing our nation to a greater extent just like a slow poison.

This is the voice of a b-tech student who have more dreams than getting placed.

These are my opinions. Anybody up for a debate are welcome.
